If you had to sum up Copenhagen in one word, it would be ……..
Bicycles
The whole city is centered around the bike and it’s used not just for personal transportation , but for other people and goods.
Embarking on a new journey?
Bath time.
Not a pointless walk.
The next few shots are in Christiana. From wikipedia “Freetown Christiania, also known as Christiania (Danish: Fristaden Christiania or Staden), is an intentional community and commune[3][4][5] of about 850 to 1,000 residents, covering 7.7 hectares (19 acres) in the borough of Christianshavn in the Danish capital city of Copenhagen on the island of Amager.[6]
Christiania has been a source of controversy since its creation in a squatted military area in 1971. Its cannabis trade was tolerated by authorities until 2004. Since then, relations between Christiania and Danish authorities have been strained. Since the beginning of the 2010s, the situation has been somewhat normalized and Danish law is now enforced in Christiania.[ci”
One of the inhabitants of Freetown Christiana. In terms of photography, the rule is a little more relaxed now, property is ok to photograph but not people unless you have their permission. One part, “Pusher street”, photography is not allowed due to the drug dealers openly selling drugs. This photograph was taken with permission and overlooks Pusher street where the drug dealing was all too evident. There is a sense of tension as the dealers and their lookouts keep an eye on the people wandering through and I had to limit my photography here to avoid any potential conflicts.
